File Description: RESTART_FILES contains binary files to run a SAM simulation from the 50-day spin-up period. SAM_SETUP contains the initial soundings, namelist and grid files for running SAM. SCRIPTS contains python scripts used to read, process and output post-processed data and figures. STATISTICS contains the post processed data from SCRIPTS (except for the 3D variables which are appended to SAM's netcdf output and OUT_EDGE). OUT_STAT contains the netcdf statistic files from the SAM runs used in the study. OUT_EDGE contains ragged netcdf files with variables at cloud edge for each simulation. 3. Relationship between files: Files in SCRIPTS read/write from/to the STATISTICS and OUT_EDGE folders. Files in SCRIPTS require the path to SAM's output files, which are specified in json files SCRIPTS/namelists. The SCRIPTS/samIO python code creates an object for each SAM simulation, which SCRIPTS then uses to easily access the output of SAM (specified in the namelists). 4. Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: Data collected from the System for Atmospheric Modelling (SAM), a numerical cloud resolving model. Output from SAM must be converted to netcdf, using the utility tools provided alongside a copy of SAM. Python 3 with numpy, scipy, numba, matplotlib, netCDF4 is required to run the post processing scripts. A Fortran compiler linked to a netcdf build is required to re-run the SAM simulations. 4.
